25-year-old David Noel Cecil, known on the hacking scene as “Evil,” has been sentenced by an Orange District Court to 2.5 years in prison for breaching the systems of Platform Networks.

He has been ordered to serve two years for 18 charges and another six months for a couple of different charges. Given that he initially faced 12 years, the sentence can be considered light, especially if we consider the fact that he will be eligible for parole after 12 months.

The reduced sentence came after the man pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him, ITNews informs. Besides the jail time, Cecil may also be banned from using computers.

At the time of his arrest, back in August 2011, Central Western Daily reported that when the Australian Federal Police raided his home, his computer was logged on to Platform Networks.

Moreover, he was in the middle of conducting a denial-of-service (DOS) attack against two IP addresses.
