Microsoft has promised to bring back the Start button in Windows 8.1, in an attempt to make the operating system a bit more familiar for many users out there.

And still, instead of launching a Start Menu, the new feature will actually get users to the Start screen, but the desktop will still look like the one already available in Windows 7.

Michael Crump, developer evangelist at Telerik, told The Seattle Times that just like all the other users, developers missed the Start button, especially because they all work on the desktop. As a result, Windows 8.1 could become a much more appealing product for the entire market.

“Developers spend a lot of time in desktop mode. So they have missed the Start button. And they also miss the ability to boot straight to desktop” — an option that will be available in Windows 8.1,” Crump explained.

More details on the changes to be made available in Windows 8.1 can be found here.
