The all-great Evernote has just been updated, adding what is probably a crucial feature for an app of its kind: offline support. Evernote is a cross-platform application that allows users to pull up files based on what they can remember about them. Now, the Internetz is only needed for syncing!

Developed by the company with the same name, Evernote lets you capture stuff like webpages, whiteboards, scribbles, to-dos, photos and even music files, and keep them somewhere safe. You tag your new additions, or add small notes to them, after which they are easily searchable.

But Evernote's flagship feature is its ability to read text inside images. This way, whenever you find an interesting ad or take a picture of a banner, for example, just drag it into Evernote, and you'll be able to find it later by typing what you can remember about what that the advertisement said. So, basically, all you have to do is just search for an item inside Evernote just like you remember it. Best of all, the service is available for all your devices, be it Mac, PC or mobile phone.

While the desktop version of the software is currently at its 1.1.5 (beta) release, Evernote for iPhone V. 1.4 brings more than just offline support. New additions also include tips and suggestions on creative ways to use Evernote, significantly faster note loading, searching and filtering support, and support for Russian users.

Listed under bug fixes on the iTunes Store page of Evernote, improvements include geo-location support and note editing, while support for portrait snapshots has also been enhanced. Note lists is cashed now between application launches, and only refreshed when new notes appear. Email addresses and URLs entered in a note are now (you guessed it) hyperlinked. Lastly, there's now a Technical Support link on the Account Page.

Evernote for iPhone is a free download, as is the beta for the desktop version of the note-taking utility. To download your preferred version of Evernote (or both), use the links provided below.
