Two days after updating its Android note-taking application, Evernote released a major update for Windows Phone users.

Some of the new features and improvements included in this update are already available on Android, while others have been specifically built for Windows Phone platform.

Evernote long-time users will immediately notice that developers have redesigned the home screen and made it more suitable for fast access to new note options and shortcuts.

There’s a whole new set of shortcuts available, which allows users to jump to notes, notebooks and tags that they access more often.

More importantly, all shortcuts sync to other Evernote platforms that support shortcuts. In order to create a new shortcut, users only need to long tap on a note, notebook or tag.

Developers also introduced a new feature that is only available to Premium users, Document Search. The latter allows users to search in attached office documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Aside from the new feature and the improvements detailed earlier, Evernote for Windows Phone now features Checkbox support.

This means that users will be able to create checkboxes in the note editor, as well as check and uncheck items in existing notes.

With the newly introduced Account Info option, users will now be able to tap username on homescreen to access account info.

Notebooks Stacks is another new feature introduced with the latest update. It provides the option to open and close notebook stacks by tapping on them or long tap on a notebook stack for option to view all notes in the stack. Last but not least, the Tag List has been improved with the option to sort tags in alphabetical order.

Evernote 3.0.0.1 is now available as a free download via Windows Phone Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Windows Phone 7.5 and up. Check it out here.
