A new flavor of the popular Evernote for Android mobile application is now available for download, namely version 4.3, with an appealing set of new features and enhancements.

The application was improved with a better toolbar in the Note Editor, as well as with redesigned Action Bars for Android tablets, not to mention that Offline Notebook multi-select is available for Premium users.

At the same time, the new application release arrives on devices with a stretchable widget to Evernote’s widget app, one that should fit nicely on any screen size, the company notes.

Evernote offers a series of features to its Premium users, and the aforementioned Offline Notebooks is one of them, now better than ever.

“It lets you download as many notebooks as you like directly to your phone or tablet, allowing you to access your notes and any attachments quickly, whether you’re on safari or in a submarine,” the company notes.

“With this update, we took all the hassle out of taking notebooks offline by letting you select multiple notebooks at once.”

To be taken to the multi-select view, users will have to tap the download icon in the bottom Action Bar on phones, or tap the three dots in the top right corner, then tap Offline Notebooks if they are on a tablet PC.

To make notebooks available for offline view, users will simply have to tap on those they would like to keep for offline access, and then hit the check mark in the top left corner of the screen. Selected notebooks will be downloaded in the background.

The new application flavor also brought along a cleaner Note Editor toolbar on Android, now available without elements that were not related to editing before. The toolbar provides users with the possibility to style their text and can be hidden when tapping on the arrow.

The Action Bar is the place where to look for those elements that have been removed from the toolbar. Simply go to the big “+” there to find them.

“Android Tablet users now get context aware Action Bar options. You’ll notice that the actions in the bar change depending on which panel is currently open,” Evernote continues.

“For example, if you’re in the Notebook List, an arrow will appear beneath Notebooks. Tap the Action Bar label to show a menu of sorting and grouping options. The same is true for Tags and All Notes views.”

As for the aforementioned resizable widget, it is available through the Google Play Store via a separate widget app. Called Grid Widget, it has been designed to fit any screens, so that users could make notes right from the phone or tablet’s desktop.

“After downloading the widget app, tap and hold on your device’s desktop. Next, choose the Evernote Grid Widget. Select the note types and functions that you’d like the widget to display. The widget will now appear on your screen. To re-size the widget, tap and hold it until you see a frame appear. Drag the frame to match the dimensions you want,” Evernote continues.

Additional enhancements are planned for future releases of the application. The new Evernote for Android 4.3 is available for download today from Softpedia via this link.
