Evernote is ecstatic following the launch of Apple’s Mac App Store and the inclusion of its popular application in the venue. The developer believes that, with the Mac App Store, Apple is changing the way people are discovering and downloading software forever.

Over at their Noteworthy blog, Evernote Corp.’s Andrew Sinkov acknowledges that, “Since it’s launch, the iTunes App Store has set the standard for how storefronts should work, and its success has helped to create a new market.

He continues, noting that their popular note-taking app is currently available in over a dozen mobile storefronts worldwide, including the iTunes (iOS) App Store, Android, and BlackBerry stores etc.

“In recent months, app stores have become the way that most people first download Evernote, accounting for nearly 70% of new Evernote users!” Sinkov claims.

“To date, these have all been mobile, which is why we’re so excited about today’s announcement. Evernote is now available in Apple’s new Mac App Store,” the Evernote staffer is proud to say.

“This is huge,” the entire team at Evernote Corp. agrees.

The blog post continues with instructions on how to get the Mac App Store on your Mac, then Evernote (Mac App Store link).

According to the developer, the Evernote you’re downloading from the Mac App Store is a tad different.

The company is not referring to the actual feature set of the program, but rather to some small changes they had to make to get Evernote approved in the Mac App Store.

“In order to comply with Apple’s rules, there are three slight difference between the version of Evernote available from our site and the one available in the App Store,” Andrew explains.

These are:

- Install the Safari Web Clipper by clicking the option in Preferences > Clipping - The global Print to PDF menu will currently not include Evernote as a destination - There is no option to join the Evernote Beta track.

On the good side, “The advantages that the App Store offers are: much easier installation and easier updating,” Andrew believes, “Otherwise, the apps are identical,” he confirms.

“Apple revolutionized the way people interact with apps on their mobile devices. Before the iTunes App Store, finding and installing an app on your smartphone was about as pleasant as stepping on glass. Now, getting an app couldn’t be easier,” Andrew Sinkov added.

“Imagine having that simplicity as part of your desktop experience.”

“By bringing their App Store know-how to the Mac, Apple is set to completely alter our expectations for software discovery and installation. We’re thrilled to be a part of it,” Sinkov concluded.
