Evernote has just made available for download a new flavor of their application for devices running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system.

There are a great deal of new features and enhancements that users will be able to take advantage of when installing and enjoying the new application release.

Among these, we can count the fact that Evernote for Windows Phone 7 offers users the possibility to pin various things straight to the home screen, which means faster access to features, notes and notebooks.

For pinning new Notes, users would have to go to Evernote Settings > General > Pin to Start Page, where they would find options such as new text note, snapshot note and new audio note, so as to pin the right thing.

As for existing notes, notebooks, tags, and searches, they can also be pinned. One should head over to the relevant screen of a notebook or tag, then tap pin to have it on the home screen. The tile will also offer info on the number of notes included in the pinned notebook.

“To pin a note, open the note and tap the dots in the menu and choose Pin this Note,” Evernote explains.

The new app flavor also comes with the option to create templates so that coming up with the same type of note would be easier.

“Template notes can take a number of different forms. You can create simple text-only templates, or you can make templates that simplify a complex workflow,” the company explains.

“For example, you can make a template that launches the camera and then attaches the snapshot to a note that contains some pre-filled text—great for capturing business cards and making expense reports.”

To make a template, users will simply have to create a new note and hit the three dots in the menu, where the ‘Pin as Template’ option will appear. Then, users will have to select the type of template they want to create, and will have it pinned to the screen.

The new application release also comes with better text editing, as well as with support for a wider range of languages, such as Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dutch, and Polish.

Some other improvements that the new application release comes with include:

- Background sync: The app will complete a sync when the device is on a WIFI connection, even if the phone is locked. - Search integration: Evernote is integrated with the Windows Phone search. If you swipe across on a search result, you will see notes in Evernote related to that search. - More social: You can now share a note to Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live.

The new Evernote 2.1 for Windows Phone is available for download now in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
