Everex Systems is expected to unveil a new mini-laptop with a 10.2-inch screen sometime in November. In addition, the company will also introduce new 8.9-inch mini-laptops that
are slated for a late August launch. There will also be a September release of a model which is going to sport a WiMax wireless Internet capability.

As a reminder, Everex is an affiliate of First International Computer (FIC), the Taiwanese contract manufacturer of the company's mini-laptops. In fact, Everex's CloudBook is produced by FIC.

According to some FIC officials, the contract manufacturer is on track to ensure Everex starts shipping a new mini-notebook with a 10.2-inch LCD screen and 3G wireless connection capabilities. This model is also expected to come with an optional WiMax connectivity solution. The idea behind Everex's new products is that a device designed for Internet surfing should have the maximum capability to utilize all possible wireless connections.

The technical specifications of this new product aren't clear yet, but the small notebook will probably come with Windows XP or Linux OS operating systems. It could also use a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor or a similar processor from Via Technologies, according to FIC representatives. The device is expected to be equipped with a maximum of 2GB of DRAM and will come with a 1.3 MP web camera and four or six cell battery. There will also be two USB ports, an express card slot and a 4-in-1 card reader.

With a 10.2-inch WSVGA LCD screen which uses LED backlights, the new sub-notebook will be capable of outputting images at a maximum resolution of 1024 by 600. This model should weigh about 1.2 kilograms and will be 263 mm long by 185mm by 32mm. The pricing information hasn't been made available.

The 8.9-inch netbooks will be made available in Taiwan and Japan by the end of August, while US users will get it in September. The Taiwanese model will sport a 1.2GHz via C7-M processor, 1GB of DRAM and 60GB of storage space on regular HDD. It will be sold for the Taiwanese equivalent of $461. A similar model, dubbed CW0A1, will boast a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU and come with Windows XP OS.
