Everex has just unveiled a new version of its MyMiniPC miniature box, powered by the eye-candy Linux derivative gOS. The new offering from the green computer manufacturer comes with a MySpace update, that ranges from the desktop theme to the included MySpace applications and API software.

For the sub-$500 price tag, Everex managed to built a pretty solid desktop system, that sports an Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile processor T2130 operating at 1.86GHz, 512 MB of DDR2 memory, an 120GB conventional hard-disk drive, a built-in CD/DVD burner, integrated Intel graphics and Realtek HD audio, FireWire, 4 USB ports, gigabit Ethernet, a DVI and S-Video port, 4-in-1 card reader, and headphone/microphone jacks.

All the above-mentioned goodies have been stuffed into a sleek, miniature casing, with a shiny white finish. The computer is extremely suitable for the crowded office spaces, as it can fit almost anywhere, given the fact that it is 6.5 centimeter tall. The desktop PCs weights only 900 grams, which means that it can compete anytime with an ultra-portable notebook.

Everex is playing everything on the "MySpace" card starting from the avatar-based help system built around "Dave" to the integrated MySpace environment with plenty of shortcuts. The new gOS operating system comes in blue color tones with an impressive 3D desktop interface and design elements taken from the Mac OS universe.

Everex's new addition is the latest in a series of Linux-oriented notebook systems, but it is by far the best impersonation, given its intuitive interface and the whole load of eye-candy desktop features. The MyMiniPC is also a good companion for users who are deep into the MySpace community, and if this were main aspect users would pick their computers on, Everex could easily make plans for the next 100 million units.

While the operating system is optimized to perform all the mundane Internet-based tasks, the hardware components are powerful enough to allow users do everything they need for productivity.
