The development team at Sony Online Entertainment announces that it is working on two new expansions for the EverQuest MMOs, which will add a host of new features to the two titles before the end of the year.

The original EverQuest will get access to Call of the Forsaken, the tenth significant content pack in its history, which will allow players to meet the powerful dragon Lady Lendiniara as it ravages the peaceful region of West Karana.

Players need to work together in order to find powerful artifacts that are spread all across the game world before using them to send the creature back to her own reality and restore the land.

The team states in the official announcement that, “many iconic characters thought to be lost in time make their presence felt, including: Zebuxoruk, King Naythox Thex, Queen Cristanos Thex, Lendiniara the Keeper, Kyle Bayle and more.”

Added features include a new Heroic adventure system, more spells and gear, shared bank slots and alternate advancement for mercenaries.

EverQuest II will get access to Tears of Veeshan and gamers will have to deal with their own dragon problem.

The team states, “With Kerafyrm's fearsome power looming over Norrath, players are called upon to shine light into the darkness brought on by the Awakened's draconic army, and set the stage for a new Age to begin!”

The SOE team will add new dungeons, dragon themed gear and other features.

Recently, a new full game in the MMO series, called EverQuest Next, has been announced.

It’s an ambitious evolution of the genre that will introduce a classless system, an environment that can be destroyed by players actions and more choices and consequences that will reshape the game world.

EverQuest Next will arrive in 2014 and might be headed to the PlayStation 4 after it is first launched on the PC.
