The Google TV platform hasn't exactly impressed anyone (quite the opposite, actually), but this didn't prevent Samsung from deciding to go ahead with the project anyway.

Maybe it's betting on the supposed improvements of the next-generation platform, which is said to be simpler to use and more rich in apps.

Regardless of the reason, a Samsung executive stated that they are working with Google on it and will release it a Smart TV featuring that platform at an event, next year.

In other words, the Samsung Google TV could (probably will) make its debut during CES 2012 (Consumer Electronics Show).

Then again, no exact time frame was provided, so it might take longer.

Now all that's left is to see if Samsung holds onto the idea or it ends up dropping it like other companies did.
