We're going through what some people might call “social media hell” right now, with just about every single person that uses the Internet having at least one social service account and most actually logging-in to multiple such services (after all, if you're not on Facebook, you don't exist). However, it would seem that the use of such services, more specifically, the uber-famous micro-blogging platform Twitter, is not restricted just to us humans, but also to animals as well, since one will actually be able to get their beloved dog to send tweets using the device you'll read about as follows, namely the Canine Twitterer from Hammacher Schlemmer. The device consists of a motion sensor and microphone installed within the dog's tag that interprets the pet's activity (or lack thereof) and selects an appropriate canine-centric message from one of 500 pre-loaded tweets. Luckily, we're not talking about barks, but about messages targeting a human audience. The tweets are sent from the tag to a USB receiver plugged into the user's computer up to 100 feet (33 meters) away that automatically posts them to the Twitter account previously set up for the dog (yeah, sort of BarkyMcBoneChewer or PostmanHater2010...or something like that). Anyway, back to serious business, we'll also have to say that the included software for Windows 7, Vista, XP, and Mac lets you set the frequency of tweets, so that you won't go spamming. The Canine Twitterer is powered by one CR2032 battery and is recommended for medium to large dogs, as it measures 2 inches in diameter x 11/4 inches in depth and weighs around 2 1/2 oz. So, all you have to do if you want to get your friends (and their pets) to follow your pooch's twitter account and daily “adventures” is cough up around $29.95, because that's how much Hammacher Schlemmer is asking for this thing.
