2K Sports and
Take Two have announced that Evan Longoria, the Tampa Bay Rays player who is the Gold Glove for 2009 and was also awarded the Silver Slugger Award, is set to be both the face and the main spokesperson for Major League Baseball 2K10, which is set to arrive on store shelves in spring 2010.
The companies are also inviting fans of the series to actually log into the official website for the game and choose which version of the cover will be used in the final release of the game.
The player himself has said “It's been a milestone year for me, from winning a Gold Glove and the Silver Slugger Award, to now being selected as the cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K10 - this has been a truly humbling experience. Since 2K Sports is letting fans decide on the final box cover art, I'm going to have to rally my Rays teammates to ensure that my favorite takes the lead”.
Fans who are interested in voting for the final version of the cover can log into the official site www.2Ksports.com/vote and offer their opinion. The period when votes can cast ends on December 8 and final choice will be revealed on December 11.
Major League Baseball 2K10 is being developed for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony, and the Nintendo Wii, the PS2, the PSP and the PC. The release date is set for spring 2010. The new installment in the long running series will offer the usual graphical improvements and 2K Sports is also promising that the capacities of players will be better evaluated and illustrated in the game and that the mechanics will better reflect the actual experience of a
baseball game. The final date for the launch will probably be announced at the same time as the final cover.
