Dramedy aims to show growing up means acting our age

Some years ago, it would have been inconceivable to picture Eva Mendes in any other movie role than that of the hot girlfriend, something she's also complained a lot about. She's come a long way from those days.

In the dramedy “Girl in Progress,” Mendes plays an insufferable mom with issues so big that she hardly notices the efforts her teen daughter is also making to do some growing up of her own.

After trying to go down on different paths, more or less willingly, mother and daughter will eventually learn to grow up together – by acting their real age.

The film stars Mendes as the mom, newcomer Raini Rodriguez as the daughter, Tavita, Patricia Arquette, Matthew Modine and Russell Peters.
