14 DAY TRIAL // That sound you must be hearing right now is the sound millions of hearts breaking make because confirmation has come that Ryan Gosling is about to become a father: he and his girlfriend of almost 3 years Eva Mendes are expecting their first child together.
The two have often been plagued by pregnancy and / or breakup rumors, partly because they always made it a point of not making a show out of their romance. They never discuss about it with the media in promotional interviews and they almost always seem very upset whenever they’re photographed by the paparazzi.
Rumors about the pregnancy started to really pick up in February when, as Eva herself explained in an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show, she refused to go through an airport scanner. She insisted that this had nothing to do with the fact that she had a bun in the oven, but rather with her finding the procedure too “creepy” and unhealthy.
Meanwhile, the tabloids decided that she must be pregnant.
As it turns out, they were right. Star Magazine was the first to break the story, saying Eva has been in hiding for all these months because she’s 7 months pregnant.
They’re right about one thing: the stunning actress hasn’t been seen in public for some time, even skipping the Cannes Film Festival, where Ryan made an appearance on his own, even though the movie he was promoting, “Lost River,” which he wrote and directed, stars Eva.
“Ryan has been by Eva’s side night and day since she found out the happy news,” a spy says for the tab. “He’s so amazingly considerate and thoughtful, always taking care of Eva. It’s like he’s already a doting daddy! No one would be surprised if they got married before the baby is even born.”
So a baby and wedding bells are in the cards for one of Hollywood’s most desirable bachelors. We assume his legions of fans, most of whom prefer to know him single or, if not, in a happy relationship (but nothing too serious) must be heartbroken.
Well, it’s not as if they actually stood a chance with him.
If you don’t place too much value on Star Magazine, Us Weekly and People magazine have also confirmed the happy news. The former says that, indeed, Eva is 7 months pregnant, but the latter doesn’t mention that part.
It does, however, come with a quote from a friend of the couple’s, saying that Eva has had a complete change of heart since she’s been with Ryan, because she never wanted to have kids or get married.
“With Ryan things are different… she’s very independent but she’s content with her partner. She finally found the person she really wants to be with,” says the insider.
A modern love story with a happy ending, if we ever saw one.
