Remember the Eva Longoria - Tony Parker scandal? Yes, that's right, the perfect couple with the perfect life and the French model who claimed she had in fact been having a two-month affair with Mr. Perfect Parker. Apparently, Tony is on the offensive now - and the most imaginative way to retaliate to the adultery allegation he could think of was to take legal action against X17, the gossip photo agency that broke the story. I'm not sure it was his idea, but whoever gave him this particular piece of advice sure knew what they were doing. As I see it, Tony's working to bring up a smoke screen, which is bound to make his "desperately innocent husband" act more believable.
In case you already forgot the finer details of this sordid affair, let me remind you what it was all about. Last week, a French (or German according to some) model by the name of Alexandra Paressant came forward claiming that she had been having an affair with Tony while the French-born basketball player was in Paris with his team, the San Antonio Spurs. As "proof" she brought her own word - which was not worth too much seeing how she had pulled the same stunt on another one of her former boyfriends, Brazilian soccer star Ronaldinho, blabbing to the French press about how he had spent the evenings during the World Cup in Germany with her rather than attend team practice. It has to be noted that Ronaldinho was her legitimate boyfriend at the time, so she wasn't lying about being with him. Oh, and she also showed X17 some text messages that supposedly came from Tony - although in an age when you can do pretty much anything with cell phones, that piece of evidence can go either way.
"X17 had to know that the story was false, or at the very least, it had to have entertained serious doubts about the credibility of its supposed source" reads a statement issued by Parker. He also claims that the photo agency never bothered to "verify the information with Mr. Parker, Ms. Longoria, any of their representatives or....anyone else who might have knowledge of the truth or falsity of the allegations". Yes, well that's not a very convincing argument on Mr. Longoria's side, I'm afraid - because if he HAS been having an affair with the French model, he was highly unlikely to actually confirm it to a gossip site. So, as I was saying, Tony Parker is going the "cause a diversion" route - stay tuned for more news from the Longoria front, because they're bound to hit soon.
