Eva Longoria Is a Real Ghost Bitch

This lovely lady sure knows how to market her own private life

I usually don't believe in coincidences - they make me nervous and suspicious. Actually, my mother taught me that there is no such thing as a coincidence, and that in fact all things happen for a reason - whatever that is. Had enough clich�s? Well, my mother never taught me anything about Hollywood celebrities, but I have a shrewed suspicion that in Hollywood, there really are NO coincidences. Like, at all. Let's make a simple test: you open a magazine and see a photo of Lindsay Lohan "casually" holding a pack of some product that's supposed to help you stop smoking, as she steps out of some famous restaurant. What is the first thing that comes to mind? I'll tell you: that the company manufacturing the anti-smoking product is paying LiLo the big bucks to endorse their product. That's pretty much the mechanism, so now we can apply it to more... let's say pressing matters.

Like Eva Longoria and the fact that the trailer and poster for her upcoming movie just happened to come out precisely at a time when Desperate Housewife Eva and her husband Tony Parker are involved in a tiny little scandal, along with a blabbing French supermodel who claims she did the nasty with Parker while he was in Paris at the end of last summer. Big coincidence that Eva's new movie is being pimped out at a time when everybody who knows who she is is wondering whether or not her husband really did cheat on her. Coincidence? I don't think so. I mean, I wouldn't go as far as to say that the whole "scandal" was a set-up to create a fuss around the movie, but the production company sure took advantage of the renewed spotlight and decided to milk it for all it's worth. Apparently, it's called "marketing".

The funny part is, the movie totally sucks. You can check out the trailer below - it's called "Over Her Dead Body" and is a comedy about a man haunted by the ghost of his ex fiancee (played by Longoria), who is determined to keep him away from any potential new love interest. Hmm... Eva plays the part of an annoying bitch of a wife who won't allow others to be happy after she's gone. Now that's definitely not a coincidence. Even funnier - one of the movie's working titles was "Ghost Bitch". That's like "Ghost Rider" only more boring and with a storyline that's only been used like a million times before (Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride", anyone?). I'm sure it will be just about the best 2008 release. Absolutely. Who wants to bet another marriage scandal will break days before the movie hits the theaters?
