Europeans' Faces All Removed from Facebook's Database

Facebook's paranoia inducing facial recognition feature caused quite a stir, more so than most minor Facebook features do. In fact, it got Facebook in trouble in Europe, where people are a lot more sensitive about their faces.

The site eventually backed off, turned off the feature and has now managed to delete all the facial recognition data associated with Europeans.

Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of Europeans continue to upload billions of photos, some even containing their faces, and to allow their friends to tag them.

Authorities in Ireland and Germany, the two countries most concerned about their citizen's faces, have confirmed that, upon inspection of Facebook source code, all the data is gone.

This while the feature was quietly re-enabled in the US, where people are a lot more comfortable or maybe just resigned with their faces.
