Even though Acer's Aspire one D225 netbook was revealed some time ago, it is only now starting to make its presence felt in Europe, where online retailers have, at last, begun to make it available for pre-order.

The entry-level mobile personal computer stood out when it was first revealed because of its processor, which was among the newest Atom CPUs to grace the market with its presence.

The central processing unit in question is known as the Intel Atom N550 and is a dual-core chip with a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz.

The processor is, in this case, backed up by 1GB of RAM and the GMA (graphics media accelerator) 3150 integrated graphics.

This video solution will have a LED-backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) with a diagonal of 10.1 inches and a native resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels to work with.

The configuration also includes a hard disk drive with an internal capacity of 250 GB, as well as the full range of connectivity and I/O options that consumers would expect to see in such a PC.

The list includes a 0.3 megapixel webcam, a SD and MMC card reader, three USB ports, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and 10/100 Ethernet.

Acer even threw in a multi-gesture touchpad, for more comprehensive and intuitive control.

Finally, the machine is kept operational by a 6-cell battery which can last for up to 8 hours on a single charge.

This makes the mobile PC a good traveling companions, particularly knowing its WiFi support and fairly powerful CPU.

As already mentioned, European online stores are already allowing pre-orders of this product, in four color options, namely Sandstone, Aquamarine, Red and Black. Shipments will start in November.

Of course, all of the available computers are pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter operating system. Those interested may find the various offerings here, where the listed price is of 349 Euro.
