Two of the leading European providers of wireless communication services have confirmed special price plans targeting Apple’s WiFi + 3G
iPad. Set to go into effect next month, the plans are yet to be fully detailed, with neither of the two carriers mentioning any particular price point, or data-transfer cap.
“O2 today announced that it will offer dedicated iPad price plans for all models from the end of May in the UK,” the latest update over at
O2’s media center reads. “The iPad lets users browse the web, read and send email, enjoy and share photos, watch HD videos, listen to music, play games, read ebooks and much more, all using iPad’s revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface,” the UK carrier states, in what is a clear attempt to attract customers. The company then directs visitors to Apple’s official website, for more details on the tablet device.
“Orange announces it will offer dedicated iPad price plans,” the announcement
issued yesterday by Orange, which also carries Apple’s iPhone in the UK and other territories, reads. “Orange today announced that it will offer dedicated iPad price plans for all models from the end of May in four countries at this stage (France, UK, Spain, Switzerland),” a more detailed announcement from the listed provider of wireless services goes. It then goes to include the same standard description of the iPad, enumerating the benefits of using it.
Apple currently sells a WiFi-only version of the iPad in the United States. Following the confirmation of a delay for its international launch, the base iPad configuration is set to go on sale in the above-listed territories in late May. However, it is still unknown when exactly Apple’s 3G-capable iPad will arrive in Europe. Apple has tied the 3G model to a
microSIM card that limits customers’ choices for preferred carriers.
