Forward Concepts has made a new study which revealed the current tendencies of the mobile phone market. Their results show that Europe has high chances of becoming the fastest growing market for WCDMA until the end of this year.

The fact that Europe will reach top results until the end of this year is actually the most important prevision made on the future development of the WCDMA market by this company.

Aside from this, Forward Concepts has also made some observations that needed no special pointing out. It seems that in terms of mainstream performance in cameras, mobile phones come with 2 megapixels. Even more, video streaming over the network will continue to grow with 3G rollouts, leaving aside the broadcast mobile TV performances.

"The cellphone continues to be the physical and market magnet that is pulling in the functionality of digital cameras, PDAs, MP3 players, GPS navigators, Bluetooth, FM Radio, digital TV, cordless phones and even smart cards, and is quickly becoming the dominant market for each and all of these functions. Companies making such stand-alone products would be well-advised to understand how their market will be affected by cellphones", observed Carter L. Horney, principal author of the study.

Other results coming from Forward Concepts reveal that EDGE markets will grow, in spite of the popularity that 3G performances currently provide. Even more, WEDGE is expected to start seriously dominating the 3G market.

Forward Concepts also see the HDTV-aspect-ratio LCD displays become highly popular as a result of the rapid growth of mobile TV use. Considerable increase in popularity will also come for the multiple-mode wireless peripheral chips supporting WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio and mobile TV. Even more, a strong demand for multi-standard mobile TV receiver chipsets will be triggered as a natural need coming from the popularity that this feature will surely trigger.
