With all the new CPUs, graphics and memory products unveiled over the past several months, it would be odd for the market not to be filled to the brim with notebooks. Regardless of how many newcomers there are, there is still only a limited number of models, which can be considered out of the ordinary. ASUS G51JX is one of these more uncanny specimens, based on a fitting combination of Intel processing and NVIDIA graphics.

The notebook has a screen size of 15.6 inches and a maximum resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. One might expect a higher image quality on a product supposedly meant for the high-end market, but there is a very good reason why Full HD 1,920 x 1,080p formats were foregone. To be specific, ASUS went for this lower resolution screen because it reaches the 120Hz refresh rate necessary for 3D support. The machine is even compatible with the NVIDIA 3D Vision technology (glasses included in the package).

Of course, the rest of the PC's specs leave little to be desired, as is expected from a gaming machine. With a 1.6Ghz Intel Core i7-720QM CPU at its heart, the system includes 8GB of RAM, the GeForce GTS 360M graphics card (1GB), an illuminated keyboard and a 7,200RPM hard disk drive with up to 500GB of storage space. Furthermore, ASUS included a 4x Blu-ray drive, a 2-megapixel webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, Altec Lansing speakers, an 8-in-1 card reader and the Express gate instant-on OS.

The ASUS 3D Vision-ready G51JX is fueled by a 6-cell 4800 mAh battery, measures 37.5 cm x 26.5 cm x 4.1 cm and weighs 3.3 kg. Finally, the product is pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home premium 64bit operating system and carries a price tag of 1,659 Euro.
