Konami has announced that European servers aren't going down, like North America's

Remember when Konami said "off with online Metal Gear Solid's head?" Well, it is partially true because it only happened with North American servers. Konami says that Europe can still enjoy it to the fullest. "Following the announcement that the US servers for the online elements of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence are to close, Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH wishes to reassure European fans of the game that this will not affect them. The European MGS3 Subsistence Servers will stay online."

However, all is not lost as Konami has recently announced a dedicated league system which will continue to provide services for fans of the game. Subsistence was released in North America on March 14, 2006 and in Europe on October 6, 2006. The game continues the Metal Gear Solid series tradition of follow-up enhanced, international version releases. Subsistence's online multiplayer component (Metal Gear Online) is comprised of five tournament-style game modes, each with a capacity of up to eight players. This mode pits players, each playing as a generic soldier against each other in deathmatch battles.

In addition to the older games and the online mode, Subsistence includes many minor features common to international version releases, such as the downloadable extra camouflage and face paint designs , Snake vs. Monkey stages previously exclusive to the European release, the European Extreme difficulty level, parody cut scenes and trailers from the official website and connectivity with Metal Gear Acid 2. Konami didn't cut Subsistence's European servers as everyone there is still enjoying the above mentioned features, thus proving once again that Konami's titles will always remain pure classics. Heck, I'd play some Contra right now if I could find an 8 bit console.
