Europe Gets PS3 Bundle Packs: Gran Turismo, Blu Ray Movies

- Sony doesn't forget Europe

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

While the US is going to receive from Sony a MGS4 bundle pack – with a somewhat backwards compatible 80GB PS3 and DualShock 3, Europe gets a bit less. The European PS3
bundle packs announced by Sony will include a 40GB PlayStation 3, no backwards compatibility at all and, from what it seems, no DualShock 3 controllers or HD cables.

First, Sony will release a Movie bundle on the 19th of March, including Blu-ray versions of movies you've seen already: the semi failure Spiderman 3, the "This is Spartaaaaaa!" 300 and the "let's watch it again" Casino Royale. Really now, does this mean anything? They're probably just liquidating their stocks and decided to give away some of the stuff. Anyway, the good thing is that Europeans will play for this bundle the exact price they'd pay for buying a new console. Not like it would be a big difference, anyway.

But, if you think this is crap, it's OK, there are some better things coming on the 29th of March – a Gran Turismo 5 Prologue bundle, for example. This one will be a better alternative – especially because it will sell at the regular price of a PS3 console. So... it's up to you to decide: watch three movies again, or play a great game. Having in mind that there are no other things to separate this two bundles, I guess the decision you'll make is clear. Why on Earth would they choose to launch both of them at such close intervals, only Sony knows.

This could be a good thing, though. Just imagine what a pain having a PS3 compatible with PS2 games would be. Spending the entire day in front of the screen, playing tons of games – great games, the ones you choose to play... that would not be good. Instead, Europeans will get a 40GB PlayStation which will get filled with 7-8 games only after the same number of DMC-like games appear and that will be the end. Back to real life. Thanks, Sony!
