Nintendo has announced that it will also hold an event in Europe, more precisely Amsterdam, on January 19 linked to the upcoming launch of the Nintendo 3DS handheld, which should arrive in the territory before the end of March this year.

Nintendo has already revealed that an event would take place on the same date in North America, in New York, with president Reggie Fils-Aime set to take the stage and talk about the plans for the future that the company has.

The European event will take place starting with 3:00 PM Central European Time and it’s not clear whether Nintendo plans to just reveal things like pricing and actual launch dates or whether the company will do a more complex presentation linked to its new piece of hardware, with new colors, bundles, special pre-order bonuses and other marketing elements.

We already know that the Nintendo 3DS will be released on the primary Japanese market on February 26 of this year and that it will cost the equivalent of about 300 dollars.

Analysts have said that the price point for North America and for Europe needs to be somewhat lower if Nintendo aims to make the new 3DS a success on the same scale as the initial launch of the DS.

The 3DS is important to the gaming industry because of the fact that it allows gamers to experience full three dimensional gaming experience without using the unwieldy specialized glasses that are needed to get the same experience on a home console.

A lot of companies have announced that they will be delivering 3D games to the new device, with Electronic Arts bringing Madden, Nintendo preparing Mario and Zelda titles, and Konami bringing Metal Gear Solid.

The launch of the 3DS is Nintendo bid to get back at the top of the mobile gaming market, where the DS family has been under threat lately from the range of Apple devices that deliver gaming alongside other functions.
