One of the nettops that Acer has been selling for a while in other regions, the so-called Aspire Revo 3700, has now made its way to Europe, where it sells for under $400 and seeks to enchant prospective buyers with promises of both compactness and performance.

For consumers interested in a reminder, nettops are more or less compact desktop PCs that pack entry-level specifications and act as low-cost computing solutions for the home or office.

For the most part, they can't cope with anything more demanding than basic document making and viewing or web browsing.

The Acer Aspire Revo 3700, on the other hand, can be seen as a sort of exception from the norm, since its hardware can even handle some light gaming, among other things.

For one, the configuration is centered around the Intel Atom D525 dual-core central processing unit that is part of the Pine Trail platform.

This chip is backed up by a solid memory capacity of up to 4 GB, while the entirety of the video workload is handled by the NVIDIA ION 2 GPU.

The ION 2 is a DirectX 10-ready component and can cope with certain online games and multimedia playback in up to Full HD quality (1,080p).

The machine also features a hard disk drive with a capacity of up to 500 GB, plus the full range of connectivity and I/O options.

The list includes Gigabit Ethernet, a multi-card reader, D-Sub and HDMI video outputs and, finally, 802.11n WiFi.

All of these pieces of hardware are crammed inside a compact frame that is designed with a stand meant to allow it to stay upright.

Of course, the product is pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home premium operating system.

European online stores have now reportedly begun to offer this electronic with a price tag of 399 Euro.
