Europa Universalis IV is one of the biggest strategy launches of the year and the development team working on it is eager to get as many players as possible interested in going up against other humans in the re-designed multiplayer experience.

Paradox announces that it has dropped its old network code and is now using Valve’s Steamworks, which gives gamers more options when it comes to joining a game that’s already in progress and finding groups to play with.

The Artificial Intelligence that takes over nations when players unexpectedly quit has also been improved.

An official forum post states, “You can tell it to avoid starting wars, to keep alliances even if an AI would cancel them, whether it can move merchants or not and more customization options.”

Europa Universalis IV will be launched in the fall on the PC.
