Common Sense, the new expansion for Europa Universalis IV, is launching on June 9 and Paradox Development Studio is offering more details about the changes made to the map and the new countries that gamers will be able to control.

A new diary explains that a range of improvements have been made to countries like Germany and Italy, in order to make sure that the level of detail for the nations is as high as for various other areas of the world.

There's more strategic depth to factions like Brandenburg, Bavaria and Bohemia.

Paradox states, "The Baltic coastline has also been made much more detailed with additional ports given to both Pomerania and Mecklenburg to bring the area on par with the western coast of Germany and better reflect the realities of the northern German coastline."

New country tags for Germany include Memmingen, Ravensburg, Nassau, Verden, and Bremen.

For Italy, the company has improved development levels and has added more provinces that gamers can dominate. In this case, new country tags include the City of Lucca and Montferrat, and an Italian culture group has been added.

Europa Universalis IV is making improvements to Poland and Russia as well, with better development levels and borders that better reflect historical realities.

Other mechanics tweaks are coming in new update

When it comes to technology, Europa Universalis IV - Common Sense is making slight changes that will match the feature with the building system, and the top level for administrative efficiency is down to 50 percent, with a new value called development efficiency added.

Gold mines in the game now also have a chance to deplete as long as they have a base production of over 10.

Paradox is improving the base tax for independent countries and get a bonus to force limits, which means that they can now support an army that has a chance to take over an enemy castle and expand via a military move.

Forts are also being tweaked in the 1.12 update for Europa Universalis IV, the sea zones have been modified in order to increase competition between states and there are four small islands that have become full provinces.

A full list of the changes made to the grand strategy title will be published when the Common Sense expansion is launched.
