Europa Universalis IV, a historical simulation developed and published by Paradox Interactive, has been launched on Steam, including for the Linux platform.

The game is built on the Clausewitz engine, the same one powering another sim from Paradox, Crusader Kings 2.

“Paradox Development Studio is back with the fourth installment of the game that defined the Grand Strategy Genre. Europa Universalis IV gives you control of a nation to guide through the years in order to create a dominant global empire.”

“Rule your nation through the centuries, with unparalleled freedom, depth and historical accuracy. True exploration, trade, warfare and diplomacy will be brought to life in this epic title rife with rich strategic and tactical depth,” reads the official announcement.

Despite the fact that it's not an action game, Europa Universalis IV has some moderate recommended system requirements: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Intel Core Duo Processor (2GHz or better), 2 GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 6750 / NVIDIA GeForce 320 / NVIDIA GeForce 9600 or higher, 1024MB graphics memory is required, 2 GB HD space, and broadband Internet connection.

More details about this game can be found in the official announcement.
