The Back to School period has started and during this period most students and parents are usually busy hunting for a decent and price-friendly laptop to be used for educational purposes.

You might not expect Eurocom to be one of those student-friendly companies out there, but the device maker has an offer for Back to School you might not want to ignore if you’re a more demanding user.

If a good old Chromebook is way too basic for you, Eurocom is teasing the X5, which apparently takes advantage of a high-performance system that students will be able to use throughout the years. Hopefully, the laptop will last them until they complete their learning cycle.

The Eurocom X5 is said to be bringing about maximum of flexibility and customers are allowed to choose from various options when it comes to hardware.

The laptop is designed to cater to the needs of students activating in fields like engineering, game and application design or architecture who need more than a basic laptop to go about their daily tasks.

The X5 arrives with a 17.3-inch HD screen with 1920 x 1080 screen and takes advantage of a range of 4th-gen GPU choices, including the Intel Core i7-4940MX, Intel Core i7-4930MX with 4 cores and 8 threads running at 3 GHz and 8 MB L3 cache, Intel Core I7-4910MQ, Intel Core i7-4810MQ, Intel Core i7-4710MQ and Intel Core i5-4210M.

The i7-4940MX processor can be paired up with up to 32GB of RAM, so performance can be pushed as far as possible.

To sustain their demanding working activities, Eurocom offers a choice between NVIDIA Quadro or GeForce graphics cards.

The Eurocom X5 arrives with a backlit keyboard, with 7 colors, 3 zone and 8 modes, which means the laptop is also a good gaming companion. Actually, it’s a bit odd that Eurocom markets the laptop with an image showing a game on the screen. After all, they are trying to promote the laptop as being educational and not a gaming speed demon, aren't they?

The basic configuration for the X5 starts at $1,559 / €1,164 and students can opt for either Glossy (Glare) or Matte (No-Glare) models.

If you’re not a student of architecture or application design, we take an opportunity to remind you that Amazon is currently hosting a Back to School sale for Chromebooks and you can pick up models like the HP Chromebook 11 for only $199 / €149.
