Renowned for its high performance desktop replacement solutions, Eurocom has just announced that AMD's latest Radeon Mobility HD 6970M graphics card has become available in its high end notebook line, including the company's flagship Panther 2.0 mobile workstation that can pack two such cards in a CrossFire configuration.

The recently announced Radeon HD 6970M is AMD’s top of the line mobile graphics card and packs 960 stream processors, 48 texturing units and 32 ROPs as well as the UVD3 media engine.

The GDDR5 memory is connected to the GPU by a 256-bit bus interface, making the HD 6970M capable of delivering an impressive 1.31 TeraFLOPs of theoretical computing power.

For the X7200 Panther 2.0 system, Eurocom will use two such cards in a CrossFire configuration, pairing it with Intel i7-980X Extreme or Xeon 5500/5600 processors and up to 24GB of DDR3 memory.

The rest of the specs are equally impressive as the Panther 2.0 can house 4 physical drives (mechanical, SSD or hybrid) in RAID 0/1/5/10 modes providing up to 3.25 TB of storage space.

“It’s a workstation-calibre computer complete with built-in Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) in a 12 pound notebook form factor,” said Mark Bialic, president of Eurocom.

“This is one extremely fast notebook that offers workstation calibre capabilities. It is designed to replace traditional desktop based workstations.

It offers incredibly high ROI by allowing companies to be more productive and offer new “on the go” CAD/CAM services while greatly reducing overall IT management costs,” concluded the company's rep.

Apart from the Panther 2.0, AMD's HD 6970M GPU will make its appearance in the company's Leopard, Cougar and Cheetah 2.0 machines, the Leopard also featuring CrossFireX support.

Prices start at $2653 US for single HD 6970M Panther 2.0 system, the dual-GPU version of the same system coming with a $3109 price tag.
