Eurocom is looking to have a go at the educational sector, too

You’re probably used to hearing that Chromebooks are the way to go if you’re a student and you’re looking to have your educational needs met.

But companies like Eurocom, which usually provide powerful gaming and enterprise solutions are also sniffing an opportunity here. So the company is throwing in an offer targeting students and parents alike.

Eurocom claims having the opportunity to configure laptops to suit the particular needs of an individual will something students will appreciate, so they are making the Shark 3 laptop available through their Eurocom Education Discount Program.

Eurocom says the notebooks are quite small in size, but bring impressive performance to the tablet. The question is how much performance does a student need? Make their laptop too advanced and they will probably be bound to use it for gaming and not studying.

Anyway, that was just a thought. Moving on, you should know the Eurocom is willing to throw in a 10% discount for all customizable and upgradable notebooks, which are part of the Eurocom Education Discount Program.

And Shark 3 is part of Eurocom’s educational portfolio and comes with a slew of interested specifications. For starters, the lappy arrives with 15.6-inch display with full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, with a choice between Matte and Glossy displays.

The company is offering up to an Intel Core i7-4940MX Processor Extreme with 4 cores and 8 threads running at 3.1GHz (bursting at 4GHz max turbo frequency) with 8MB L3 cache and the NVIDIA GeForce 860M graphics card (based on Maxwell).

The device can be fitted with 24GB of RAM and a maximum of 6TB of storage over two HDD/SSD (SATA3), one mSATA (SATA3) plus optional HDD/SSD.

Worried your colleagues will be stealing your ideas or projects? The Shark 3 comes with embedded 1.2 trusted platform module (TPM) security, fingerprint recognition and optional Kensington lock.

This sounds all nice and dandy, but again we feel this is a little too advanced for your average student. Unless they are studying architecture or art and they need to run some advanced rendering programs. That’s why Eurocom mentions the Shark 3 is suited for post-secondary students.

As for the younger student crowd, a cheap, lightweight Chromebook is more than enough for scholastic activities like doing homework and research for projects.

Usually the base configuration for the Eurocom Shark 3 ships out for $871 / €640, but with the 10% discount you’ll be able to grab it for less.
