We've looked at the new high-end graphics processing unit from Advanced Micro Devices and, now, we can go ahead and check out what laptops it has already become part of.

Eurocom is the company that formally introduced mobile systems equipped with the AMD Radeon HD 7970M discrete GPU.

There are two, Intel Ivy Bridge CPU-based notebooks: the Neptune 2.0, measuring 17.3 inches, and the Racer 2.0, at 15.6 inches.

The former gets up to four storage drives (two SATA III, one mSATA and a fourth taking the place of the ODD, when required). The latter has three maximum storage drives.

“The AMD Radeon HD 7970M is going to elevate GPU performance to new heights by providing superior performance combined with high reliability and extremely high price/performance ratio. We are looking forward to further improving performance in Intel Chief River and Ivy Bridge platforms. AMD 7970M offers extensive driver support for Windows 7, Linux as well as Windows 8,” states Eurocom President Mark Bialic.

Existing customers will have the choice to use an AMD Radeon HD 6990M GPU instead, if they so wish.

Also, when selecting the newest HD 7970M, it will be possible to have two of them in CrossFireX configuration.

“Eurocom has been working together with the AMD team for many years. In the past we have integrated AMD processors and ATi graphics solutions into a number of our systems. The AMD Radeon HD 7970M will enhance the capability of our products and offer customers a wider selection of high performance GPU solutions,” added Bialic.

Alas, there do not seem to be any sort of pricing or availability details, but we are pretty sure sales of the machines will begin soon. Knowing the Ivy Bridge and HM77 chipsets, April 29 is our best bet. That is, after all, when Intel's new CPUs will go on sale.
