Eurocom, the company that designed the world's first laptop to be featured with an Intel Core i7 processor, has recently announced an update to its D900F Panther desktop replacement that will provide consumers with an impressive 2.5TB of storage space. The unit can be configured with some of the latest hardware available on the market, making it an ideal choice for high-end users looking for a portable workstation that can deliver the performance typically achieved by today's desktop PCs.

“It's a server or workstation-calibre computer complete with built-in Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) in a 12 pounds notebook form factor,” said Mark Bialic, president of Eurocom. “This is one extremely fast notebook that offers server or workstation calibre capabilities. It is designed to replace traditional desktop based workstations. It offers incredible high ROI by allowing companies to be more productive and offer new 'on the go' CAD/CAM services while greatly reducing overall IT management costs.”

Among the configuration changes that have been made to the D900F Panther, we should note that the support for up to 4 storage devices, including either solid state drives or traditional hard disk drives. In addition, the unit can be built with either a Core i7 or a Xeon processor, up to 12GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 260M or GTX 280M graphics processor and an optical drive that can be either a DVD writer or a Blu-Ray drive.

The laptop will also be equipped with a 2MP or a 3MP webcam, WiFi, Bluetooth, 12-cell battery pack and provide a choice for a Windows XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003 or Server 2008, as an operating system. As far as pricing is concerned, you can expect this 17-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) monster to be quite pricey, given the power and performance it is capable of.
