Eurocom has just announced that its 15.6-inch Racer notebook can now be configured to feature 16GB of DDR3 memory running at 1866Mhz frequencies, making it one of the first companies to support such high-speed memory models in their laptops.

The DDR3 sticks used are manufactured by Kingston and are part of the company’s HyperX line that is targeting gamers and enthusiast users.

“Adding support for Kingston's HyperX Plug-and-Play (PnP) DDR3 1866 memory is a natural progression for Eurocom, as we strive to offer the best available technology to our clients,” explains Mark Bialic, Eurocom President.

“For users who want to squeeze as much processing power out of their system as possible, 1866 MHz memory is a must,” concluded the company’s rep.

As all of Eurocom's products, the Racer notebook is fully configurable, users having the option of pairing the Sandy Bridge processors installed and the new Kingston memory with a wide variety of high performance graphics cards from the likes of AMD and Nvidia.

The list includes professional Quadro GPUs and the system is also compatible with any other video card that comes in the MXM 3.0b package and has a TDP of under 100W.

Storage is handled by two physical drives (SSD, hybrid or mechanical), that can provide up to 1.7TB in capacity, and the Racer can be further configured with a matte or a glossy 1920x1080 Full HD LED backlit display.

Other optionals include Bluetooth and mobile broadband connectivity, all the models featuring a 9-in-1 card reader, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, Dual Link DVI and HDMI video outputs, a FireWire port, optical audio S/PDIF, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

The new Kingston DDR3-1866Mhz memory models are available right now in the company’s online configurator as a $600 (482 EUR) upgrade over the price of the base memory configuration.
