EuroSMS2008 is the name of the latest mobile game dedicated to the UEFA Euro 2008 Championships, which is now close to its final stage: the "grand finale" that will be played on June 29 in Vienna. The new game was created by Sirocco Mobile, a Poland-based mobile content developer.

"Build on emotions and luck," as Sirocco says, EuroSMS2008 is set to gather European football fans in what is presented as the first massive real-time multiplayer game for mobile phones. EuroSMS2008 is mainly created for the fans of Austria, Croatia, Germany and Poland - the four teams that shared the Group B of the real Euro 2008 (only Germany is still in the competition, but that doesn't matter in the mobile game). Users can compete against each other (hence real opponents), from their phones, via WAP, J2ME or even SMS.

While Sirocco Mobile created the game itself, its implementation in the four mentioned countries is made with the help of Polsat (a leading Polish TV station), Sat 1, Kabel 1, ProSieben and 9Live Channel.

"We are excited that the solution created by Sirocco Mobile yields such emotions and popularity of mobile gaming in Europe. For this project, our experience with Java games and online platforms was crucial. Now, together with international partners we're cheering on all the fans joining EuroSMS2008 game," said, Ludwik Zoltowski, Chief Executive Officer of Sirocco Mobile, in a press release.

Piotr Ostaszewski, New Media Director at Polsat S.A. Group, added, "EuroSMS2008 is a great challenge for everybody. The whole project, from the concept to its commercial launch in all 4 countries, lasted only 8 weeks, and that is already a great success! We managed to create the very first massive multiplayer mobile game format on a global scale!"
