Eurocom has upgraded its lineup of mobile workstations with improved security levels

Today Eurocom announced a new upgrade to its line of 15.6 to 17.3-inch fully upgradable Mobile Workstations, aimed to boost security levels at which sensitive information is preserved.

Eurocom highlights the importance of implementing a highly performant security layer in its line of mobile working stations, which they claim is achieved due to the existence of Kensington Lock Slot that prevents physical theft from the system, biometric finger reader plus the new TPM hardware encryption system.

Eurocom’s Mobile Workstation include the Racer 3W, Neptune 3, Panther 5 and Scorpius 3 and all these laptop models have now been fitted with TPM.

What exactly is TPM (Trusted Platform Module), you might wonder, and why is it important to security? The TPM is a device fixed to the motherboard and secure against external software attacks and physical theft.

The BIOS take advantage of TMP in order to collect and store certain measurements picked up from multiple factor pertaining to the boot process in order to create a system unique fingerprint.

Setting up the TPM module on an Eurocom Mobile Workstation isn't a complicated endeavor.

Users will just have to access BIOS and choose to display the full TPM configuration menu, where the TPM state can be selected.

The TPM driver from Device Driver & Utilities must be installed, after which the Infineon Security Platform needs to run in order to save the password and data to a storage medium.

Eurocom’s TPM chips are all manufactured by semi-conductor company, Infineon.

Basically, TPM will allow users to store digital credentials such as passwords, manage keys with TPM, augment smart cards, finger print readers and fobs for multi-factor authentication, encrypt both files and folders to control access, enable secure remote and wireless access.

Last but not least, TPM can be used in combination with Disk Encryption so access to sensitive data is not permitted.

TPM will also allow mobile workstation users to generate, store, and limit the use of cryptographic keys so when TPM is activated, files, folders, information and other data can be easily encrypted. The same applies to passwords.

Anyway, as a quick reminder, the Racer 3W, Neptune 3, Panther 5 and Scorpius 3 are high-end laptops with form-factors ranging from 15.6-inch to 17.3-inch. All notebooks offer an FHD display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and Wide Viewing Angle and LED Backlit (except for the Scorpius 3).
