And it’s all caught on tape

Although legendary singer Etta James had absolutely no problem with Beyonce portraying her in the movie “Cadillac Records,” it seems she is not OK with the artist singing her song at the Obama Inauguration. During a live concert in Seattle just recently, James showed some very harsh feelings towards Beyonce, by telling the audience she was personally “gonna beat her.”

As it is known, Beyonce sang James’ song “At Last” at the Presidential Inauguration and, reportedly, the 71-year-old singing sensation had no problem with that at the time. Nevertheless, at last week’s concert, she told the audience not only that she could not stand Beyonce, but also that she had no place to get on stage and sing her song. Moreover, Etta vouched she would beat Beyonce senseless (only in more vulgar terms).

“You know, YOUR President, the one with the big ears-he ain’t my President – had that woman singing for him at his Inauguration. She’s going to get her [expletive] whooped. How dare Beyonce sing MY song that I been singing forever. Now I’m going to sing it for y’all…” Etta told the crowd. “The great Beyonce… I can’t stand Beyonce,” she added, to the applause of the audience.

As expected, the entire incident was caught on tape and just made public a few hours ago. Since then, fans of the two singers have been engaging in a bitter exchange of words on dedicated forums, with some rooting for Beyonce, who was publicly attacked without provocation, and others for Etta James who is, in the end, the singer with more experience and talent, as they say.

Be that as it may, Beyonce was more than proud to be given the opportunity to cover Etta’s hit, as she herself said when she announced the track she would be singing at the Inauguration. “I am so honored that I will be performing for President Obama and the First Lady. To sing ‘At Last’ [by Etta James] while they have their first dance is a dream come true. I could not be more honored and excited that they have asked me to be part of this moment in history.” the singer said.

A representative for Beyonce refused to comment on Etta James’ remark. Stay tuned here for more details on this.
