Etherium, the real-time strategy game that's in the works over at Tindalos Interactive, has just made another step toward revealing itself with the release of a video showing some of its units in action.

The upcoming game pits three factions against each other, the Humans, Vectides and Intari, and the in-game footage that publisher Focus Home Interactive has revealed shows some units from each of the factions in what looks like some pretty serious engagements.

The three empires are clashing in a ruthless struggle to control Etherium, an elusive but vital resource that is only found on a handful of planets.

The first video was released a while ago and it had a serious Dune vibe to it, what with the desert planet that is rich in a mysterious and very rare resource, but this trailer reveals all three factions going at it on two more of the total six planets that the war is being raged on.

Joining the sand planet of Serenade, the ice world of Arctis and the volcanic planet Pilo both emerge as future battlegrounds for the hostilities to take place on, both of them serving the game's unique dynamic weather system in providing unique climatic events.

Each of the three factions will have its own specific characteristics, as well as technologies and special skills such as climate control, espionage and precognition.

The game's solo campaign will allow players to decide how their conquest progresses in a non-linear journey where they will have to manage resources, expand colonies and gradually extend control over the map and assemble a fearsome army that will crush their opponents.

Players will throw various units into their army composition, from infantry, tanks and aircraft to gigantic colossi of war, and will use scientific research to unlock new units and upgrades, as well as to gain access to new structures and develop their colony.

A notable feature that will bring a unique depth to the strategic layer will be the game's dynamic weather system, which will allow players to use sandstorms to approach an enemy base without being detected or mount a surprise attack by crossing a freezing river.

The game will allow up to four players to demonstrate their strategic prowess in various online modes, when it comes out later this year.

Players interested in finding out more about Etherium can visit the game's official website, where for now the "Full Website Coming Soon" greeting is only accompanied by some in-game screenshots.
