Escape Goat 2, a 2D platformer developed by MagicalTimeBean and published by Double Fine Productions, has been released on Steam for Linux.

Escape Goat 2 is actually the first title published by Double Fine Productions, a company that has been focused on building games. This publishing start might prove to be very productive for the company if it continues to promote high-quality games.

The name of the IP actually represents the gameplay, in some way. The players take the role of a goat that is trying to escape from a stronghold.

“Pick your path through the massive Stronghold, divided into ten unique zones. Worry not, brave Goat, for you have a friend on this mission: Your immortal mouse familiar can crawl to otherwise unreachable areas, to hit switches and distract enemies. Use your wits, reason, reflexes and courage to overcome each room, and save your friends from an eternal slumber,” reads the official synopsis of the game.

The Linux system requirements are quite low: a glibc 2.15+, 32/64-bit operating system, a 1.8 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, OpenGL 3.0+ (2.1 with ARB extensions acceptable) video card, and 200 MB of available space.

The game also benefits from a 10% discount that is scheduled to end on March 31.
