Infrastructure services provider Ericsson has been recently selected by China Mobile Hebei, a provincial company of China Mobile, for the delivery of managed services. According to the company, Ericsson would offer these services for all of the 22,000 2G/3G (GSM/TD-SCDMA) base station sites the carrier has in the Hebei province. The agreement would extend for a period of time of three years, and build on a long relationship between the two companies.

Ericsson announced that it already started the delivery of these services for the carrier, and that the agreement is the largest it ever signed in China until now. China Mobile Hebei is the largest wireless carrier in the province, with a number of 35 million subscribers. The entire population of the Hebei province tops 70 million.

Li Liangui, General Manager of China Mobile Hebei, says: “We have always acted upon China Mobile's core value proposition - Responsibility Makes Perfection - and are fully committed to achieving win-win situations with our strategic partners to pay back society the best we can. This cooperation will be a significant move to benefit not only Ericsson and China Mobile Hebei, but also the Hebei Province.”

The new agreement is expected to offer China Mobile Hebei the possibility to improve its network quality, as well as its operational efficiency. Moreover, it is meant to enable the carrier focus more on subscribers, while Ericsson would be responsible for field maintenance of base stations. Government of Hebei Province supported the agreement, and said that it hopes Ericsson would “set a benchmark for field maintenance services,” the infrastructure solutions provider announced.

“This shows China Mobile Hebei's trust in Ericsson's industry leading managed services capabilities and its willingness to be a strategic partner with Ericsson in China. We are confident of providing the best-in-class services to China Mobile Hebei and to help it capture new opportunities in this challenging and competitive marketplace,” Mats H Olsson, President of Ericsson China & North East Asia, stated.
