Ericsson and Turner have announced their collaboration in order to develop Turner's Internet, broadcast news and entertainment content for mobile multimedia environments.

The content includes CNN International, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim material. The offering combines elements from both companies in the partnership, Turner's news and entertainment content and Ericsson's hosting and content management technology.

The first of these services will be launched in Europe on the 12th of February at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. At first, the company will offer the CNN mobile service which will initially be available to users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Casey Harwood, Senior Vice President, Digital Media, Turner Broadcasting, says: "With this deal, we will have for the first time a full portfolio of solutions - from SMS through to mobile television - that will scale and easily move across the world. This partnership is a logical fit where the customer and mobile operators benefit through Turner focusing on providing innovative news and entertainment content to its global audience and Ericsson providing the technology behind it."

The service will be available through CNNmobile.com to users in EMEA and Latin America subscription free. It will include a searchable archive of 14 days and over 2000 stories, breaking news alerts and video news updates.

The mobile services will include intelligent software that will enable devices to only show the appropriate content for a given handset which will result in a richer user experience. As time goes by, the services' availability will expand to other regions and both companies have committed to launching other products throughout 2007.
