Personal, the leading mobile service provider in Paraguay, has recently selected Ericsson to modernize and expand its GSM network with mobile softswitch in order to innovate its services and extend its coverage and capacity all over the country.

The Mobile Softswitch Solution from Ericsson will enable Personal to provide top-quality services for its subscribers by expanding and upgrading its network in a cost-efficient manner. A series of additional related services will also be provided by Ericsson to guarantee professional and successful network deploying.

Hugo Lombardo, O&M Network Manager of Personal Paraguay, declared: "Personal leads the Paraguayan market in mobile services, with the most innovative services. We chose Ericsson for this significant investment because of its technology leadership, the value it delivers in its solutions, and its ability to continue to support us in our future requirements."

"We are proud to have been chosen by Personal Paraguay for its network upgrade and modernization and support them in this important step towards an all-IP network", said Fatima Raimondi, President of Ericsson in Latin America South. "Our state-of-the-art technology will keep Personal at the forefront in the region and allow it to bring the most innovative services to its customers."

Powering about 50 percent of the world's networks with softswitch architecture, Ericsson's Mobile Softswitch Solution is by far the most widely used softswitch architecture solution.

Personal is the most important mobile network provider in Paraguay, covering every region in the country and offering services since June 1998.

Paraguay is one of the only two landlocked countries in South America (alongside Bolivia), and it's not among the richest countries in the area. But, like in the case of all the other states from Latin America, Paraguay's mobile market has known a significant and rapid growth in the last years.
