14 DAY TRIAL // Today, leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure provider Ericsson announced the showcasing of its complete end-to-end TD-LTE solution at a China Mobile event in Shanghai, China. According to the company, this is the first time when it demonstrates its complete solution, which included ST-Ericsson devices, and which successfully showcased video on demand (VOD) and video streaming through the use of a live camera. Previously, the Ericsson TD-LTE solution managed to achieve a single user peak rate of 110Mbps for downloads.
According to Ericsson, “LTE, the next generation of mobile broadband technology, includes two versions: one for paired spectrum, frequency division duplex (FDD); and one for unpaired spectrum, time division duplex (TDD) - or Ericsson's TD-LTE. Widespread global deployment of TD-LTE is expected in the coming years.” The new demonstration was performed through the use of a USB dongle with a TD-LTE chipset from ST-Ericsson. Ericsson announced the successful execution of TD-LTE interoperability testing (IOT) with ST-Ericsson, as well as testing with two other chipset vendors.
The company announced that it launched a new base station as part of its TD-LTE offering. Built using the latest multi-standard base station, RBS 6000, the new TD-LTE station is meant to prove a highly integrated solution that sports a small form factor and low power needs, so that it would fit any implementation scenario. At the same time, the solution comes with support for LTE Advanced technology, offering carriers the possibility to benefit from a smooth migration plan.

ST-Ericsson, another leading company in the wireless industry, was the first one to come to the display with a handheld LTE device, while also being the first to achieve LTE and HSPA mobility with a multimode device. The company's next gen modem would come next year to the market with support for both versions of LTE, not to mention that it would also be TD-SCDMA and HSPA+/EDGE capable.
