Telecommunications infrastructure solutions provider Ericsson announced recently a series of changes in the management team of the company. According to the company, its business unit Global Services has now Magnus Mandersson as its leader, while the head of business unit CDMA Mobile Systems is now Rima Qureshi. At the same time, the company also revealed that both Magnus and Rima would be members of the Group Management Team, and that both of them have already taken on their responsibilities starting with Monday, January 18.

According to Ericsson, its services unit has registered great growth lately, rising with around 20 percent during the last nine months of the past year alone. Magnus Mandersson will lead 40,000 professionals in various segments, including managed services, systems integration and consulting. In addition, the company says that the recent purchase of Nortel's CDMA and LTE business in North America has propelled it to the leading position in this market segment in the United States and Canada. Rima Qureshi will lead a team of 2,500 skilled employees in North America and China, the infrastructure vendor added.

Hans Vestberg, president and CEO, says that “Services has an increasingly important role in the company and supports operators in increasing their operational efficiency. We now have access to North American CDMA customers whom we'll support in their transition to LTE. I have appointed two highly competent people with broad experience and excellent leadership skills to lead these businesses. In addition, Magnus has key insights from our customers' realities and Rima adds deep knowledge from R&D and operations.”

Magnus Mandersson has an experience of over 15 years in the telecom industry, and he served as an executive with Ericsson and operator Tele2/Millicom. He accounted for various positions at Ericsson since joining the company back in 2004, the last of which was head of business unit CDMA Mobile Systems and member of the Group Management Team. Rima Qureshi is the leader of a “strategic program for a major North American operator and Ericsson Response.” She accounted for various positions within the company since 1993, and now she took over the CDMA Mobile Systems unit, the vendor concludes.
