PT Telekomunikasi Selular Indonesia (Telkomsel) has awarded Ericsson an expanded area of responsibility for managed services in Indonesia. Ericsson will broaden its comprehensive services' offering in the country to managing the operations of Telkomsel's multivendor 3G/WCDMA network.

This is an extension to the scope of a managed services contract signed earlier this year, under which Telkomsel chose Ericsson to deliver and deploy a 3G/WCDMA radio and core network including HSPA and managed services. It seems that the network deployment is progressing as planned.

Bengt Thornberg, president of PT Ericsson Indonesia, said: "We are very honored to be awarded this expanded scope in our managed services agreement with Telkomsel. This certainly reinforces the strong partnership between us."

Ericsson will expand its managed services responsibility to include Telkomsel's operation, management and maintenance of a third-party radio access network in Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua.
