Ericsson, together with Telecinco and Boomerang TV, announced the availability of Formula One live content for all the Spanish mobile TV users.

From now on, Formula One (F1) fans in Spain will be able to view the races of this season on their mobile phones, thanks to Ericsson and HyC, the Spanish company that Ericsson acquired at the beginning of this year.

The Ericsson-owned HyC will provide an end-to-end service, allowing both Telecinco and Boomerang TV to offer all the Formula One races that mobile TV subscribers might want.

Comprised of 18 races, the 2008 F1 season debuted on March 16 and will end on November 2. There are still nine races to look forward to:

- Grosser Preis Santander von Deutschland (18 - 20 July, Hockenheim, Germany);

- ING Magyar Nagydij (1 - 3 August, Budapest, Hungary);

- Telefonica Grand Prix of Europe (22 - 24 August, Valencia, Spain);

- ING Belgian Grand Prix (5 - 7 September, Spa, Belgium);

- Gran Premio Santander d'Italia (12 - 14 September, Moza, Italy);

- SingTel Singapore Grand Prix (26 - 28 September, Singapore);

- Fuji Television Japanese Grand Prix (10 - 12 October, Fuji Speedway, Japan);

- Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix (17 - 19 October, Shanghai, China);

- Grande Premio do Brasil (31 October - 02 November, Sao Paulo, Brazil).

Talking about the new collaboration with Ericsson, Manuel Villanueva, Content general manager at Telecinco, declared, "Consumer demand for live mobile TV is increasing in line with technology improvements. Through this agreement with Ericsson's HyC, we can offer our customers a richer communications experience though a personalized and interactive service".

Ingemar Naeve, President of Ericsson Iberia, also said, "This agreement to launch Formula One on mobile TV marks an important step for Ericsson. It reaffirms our position as a key player in the multimedia arena, supported by strong systems integration capabilities. It also confirms our ability to enable dynamic content and provide end-to-end solutions, supported by our recent acquisitions such as HyC".

All in all, it's a good thing that F1 fans from Spain can get to see their favorite races on mobile phones, as they might not always be able to view them on the wide screens of TVs.
