Although available for quite some time in other parts of the world, Australia has been slow to receive Epson's EB-1700 series of ultraportable 3LCD projectors, but these have finally made it to the land down under, sporting some of the sleekest styles in the projector world.

However interesting their hardware specifications may seem, the thing that strikes me most about the EB-1700 series is how thin these can actually be as they measure only 45mm in height, less than a credit card while also coming at an rather low 1.7kg.

But the compact size doesn't mean the EB-1700 series is light on features or image quality, the 3LCD technology promising to display bright, colorful images, all the models in the series being capable of delivering 3000 lumens of brightness.

Furthermore, the top of the range EB-1775W comes with a fully automated setup and all the user has to do is to turn on the projector, the device taking care of all the necessary keystone corrections, while also coming with a one-touch Screen Fit button that automatically resizes the image to match with the edges of the screen, adjusting focus at the same time, all in less than 4 seconds.

Although, the Screen Fit button misses from the other projectors in the series, these do feature automatic vertical keystone correction, source search, auto detection of RGB/Component connections, multi-screen color adjustment, password protection, auto iris on/off, as well as an internal speaker and three pre-set color modes.

To round up its capabilities, the EB-1775W also comes with integrated 802.11b/g/n wireless capabilities, the EB-1770W and EB-1760W supporting WiFi through an external adapter that is sold separately.

Packing native WXGA widescreen format, Epson’s EB-1700 series projectors have HDMI (apart from the EB-1750), VGA, video in (RCA), USB type B, USB type A, and audio stereo mini ports connectivity.

The EB-1700 series projectors are available for purchase right now, prices starting from $1,199 for the entry-level EB-1750 and going up to $1,999 for the top of the line EB-1775W.
