Epson America has released Epson iPrint 2.0, a new version of its printing software for iOS platforms, iPrint.

Epson says v. 2.0 is not just an update, but a major upgrade that allows users to print documents and webpages, in addition to photos.

Users can access, print and save their files on their device or on Box.net, Dropbox and Evernote accounts, as well as scan and send them via email.

iPrint supports files including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents.

"Epson is committed to superior mobile device printing solutions for performance printing on-the-go," said Kristi Lanzit, product manager, consumer ink jets, Epson America, Inc.

"Epson's new iPrint app offers unmatched printing and scanning capabilities including the ability to print photos, web pages and documents any time to any nearby wireless Epson all-in-one, making it unbeatable in performance versus competitors' printing apps," added Lanzit.

According to the company, additional key features of Epson iPrint include:

· Print documents, e-mail attachments and stored files
· Access and print online files from Box.net, Dropbox, Evernote, and Google Docs
· Use the built-in web browser to find and print a web page
· Easily configure print options including paper size and type, number of copies and page range
· Scan from an Epson all-in-one and share a file (save to device, send via email or save online)
· Check printer's status and ink levels
· Get help with a built-in FAQ section

There are also some advanced features, like the ability to choose and print multiple photos, print with or without borders, and switch between color or monochrome printing.

Users can just as well select different scanning resolutions and image types, optimize print quality, and even use the app to buy ink and printing supplies.

Epson iPrint is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 4.1 or later. The app is free to download from the iTunes App Store in the Photography category.
