Although projectors are not exactly the displays of choice for gamers, due to numerous reasons, there are still some companies out there that do try to change this situation. And one such company is Epson, who has just come up with the PowerLite S5 projector, a device that offers some gamer-friendly features at quite an affordable price.

Of course, the PowerLite S5 Projector is not designed especially for gamers. It boasts a brightness level of 2,000 ANSI lumens and includes Epson's latest generation of high aperture 3LCD (three-chip) technology that allows users to enjoy more vivid color reproduction and detail, which makes it a very good solution for presentation. However, the projector also features a "Game" mode and can be plugged directly into a gaming console for an enhanced gaming experience.

Some of the features that make the PowerLite S5 quite an attractive item (especially considering the very low price-tag for a projector) are the very rapid startup and shutdown times (5 seconds for startup, around 4 seconds for shutdown), the A/V Mute Slide function (instantly turns off the sound and images to create a quick pause in the presentation), as well as the support for HDTV (720p, 1080i resolutions).

Moreover, the device offers a very flexible positioning system, as it features a 1.3x digital zoom to project a large and clear image from short and long throw distances, and is quite energy-efficient, as it uses E-TORL lamp technology which allows the projector to achieve more efficiency by projecting more lumens per watt. Besides requiring less power, this technology also assures a longer functioning life for the PowerLite S5, as the lamp will last for around 4,000 hours.

The people from Epson are, quite obviously, very proud of their device, and quite certain that its qualities will make it the display solution of choice for many users. "The PowerLite S5 brings versatility, power and affordability to entrepreneurs, educators and business professionals alike," said Heather Litus, A/V product manager, Epson America, Inc. "Presenters will benefit from the ease-of-use, flexibility and industry-leading image quality and performance that are inherent in Epson's award-winning projectors and 3LCD technology."
